Okay, I've seen Inception, and now I need some explanation. My initial reaction (I'm sorry Rew) was that the whole thing was an excuse for not having a plot. I've just seen SALT, which also didn't have a (believable) plot, and wondered whether Hollywood has decided that plots aren't necessary. Just create something that is fun to watch with great actors and no one will notice that there is no plot. My 20th Century mind expects film to mirror books and plays--there should be a situation with believable characters in which one (or more) problems develop which are resolved by the last act or the final chapter. Instead, I found Inception to be the worst equivalent of the dream world--unconnected, meaningless, fragments of conscious and subconscious memories, spun in nonsence sequences as part of RIM sleep. The point of it RIM sleep is to relax and pay no attention to what your mind projects. Is this the only way to integrate Inception with 21st Century expectations?

Inception was great. I think you're right about the dialogue, some of it was a little awkward, but the scale and speed of everything else going on around it kept me from dwelling on those moments. I was really skeptical about Joseph Gordon-Levitt because I've just never liked him that much; he always came across on screen as pretentious. Arthur, on the other hand, worked wonderfully. The whole thing blew me away, in ways Memento never did. I can't wait to see more of your thoughts on the film!

Jenny, you watched and enjoyed The Big Lebowski. You seriously can have a pass to do whatever you want for awhile. Much like the one Corelyn got for reading "The Long Halloween" without provocation.

I appreciate the links. When I am not at work, I will listen. I read the paragraph you asked the reader to read.

I am trying harder, is the point.
